MILLING OF CHIMNEYS

It is a mechanical Increasing the chimney draught , i.e. the chimney opening along its entire length.

A milling head is started from the top of the chimney, gradually moving upward and creating a circular cross-section in the existing chimney. In this way the inner walls of the chimney are worked with high-hardened chains.

This procedure is schornsteinschonend , as the milling head copies the chimney.

A maximum of 1/3 of the thickness can be milled from the wall.

This increases the draught, but combustion deposits such as tar and soot are removed.

For some chimneys it is not necessary to mill the chimney. If the situation does not require it, we proceed directly with the fitting fort .

Milling itself, without an indexable cutting insert, is not possible. After milling, the chimney must always be lined.

THE CHIMNEY MUST ALSO BE LINED AFTER MILLING. ONLY THEN DOES IT COMPLY WITH THE LEGAL AND SAFETY REGULATIONS.

According to the chimney regulation (Regulation No. 401/2007 Coll.) only multi-layer chimneys may be used. This means it consists of more than one layer.

Only a masonry chimney (including a masonry chimney after milling) does not meet this requirement, as it is a single-layer chimney. However, there is through the use of another layer in the chimney, and you thus get a chimney compliant with the regulation.

If your chimney does not comply with the regulation, you cannot obtain an inspection report for such a chimney. This report is needed, for example, if you want to insure the house.

MILLING EXTENDS THE SERVICE LIFE COMPARABLY TO BUILDING A NEW CHIMNEY.

Milling and lining achieves results comparable to building a completely new chimney, and this method of chimney repair is also more cost-effective.

It becomes restore the chimney and extend its service life . It is extended by another 30 years, and all without major demolition and construction work.

Since milling is done from the top of the chimney, gradually milling out sections of the chimney, the intrusion into the living space is minimal. Most of the work is carried out „inside the chimney“.

If you decide to demolish the old chimney and build a complete new one, you must expect construction work lasting more than a week.

Bricking up the chimney cannot be done all at once because the mortar has to cure; it can only be done gradually. During this time the „normal“ life of the household in the rooms around the construction is considerably restricted.

The mess and dust associated with demolition work must also be taken into account. At the same time, considering the statics, the chimney must be placed on a good foundation.

We complete the work around milling and lining chimneys within one day. This depends on the diameter and length of the chimney.

Holes for fitting doors, T-pieces or branches to the boiler are only after produced by milling the chimney.

These technical holes are made on every milled chimney. Without them, connecting the chimney to the appliance would not be possible.
